Monument Types & Designs

At The DuCrest Monument Company, we take great pride in creating beautiful memorials that are as unique as your loved one. Uprights, slanted, benches, flat, and custom monuments are available in a variety of colors and sizes.

Flat Monuments

Flat monuments, often called grass markers, sit level with the ground and offer a clean, simple look. They’re a popular choice because they’re more affordable and are sometimes required by certain cemeteries.

While they’re typically smaller in size, they can still include everything that matters—names, dates, meaningful quotes, and even etched or ceramic portraits.

Bevel Monuments

Bevel monuments are similar to flat markers but sit at a slight angle, sloping up from front to back for easier reading. They keep a low profile while adding a bit more dimension.

Like flat monuments, they’re typically smaller in size but can include all the essential information. They’re a great, cost-effective option if you want something simple with a little more presence.

Slanted Monuments

Slant monuments feature an angled face with a vertical back, offering a classic look that’s easy to read. They’re a cost-effective alternative to upright monuments, as the base is built directly into the design—eliminating the need for a separate granite foundation.

For families who prefer a more elevated appearance, slant monuments can also be set on an additional granite base to create a taller, more prominent memorial. This is an optional upgrade that adds both height and presence.

Upright Monuments

Upright monuments are the traditional style most often seen in cemeteries. They offer the most flexibility in design and can be created in a wide range of shapes, sizes, and styles to reflect the life and memory of your loved one.

These monuments can be engraved with names, dates, inscriptions, artwork, religious symbols, portraits, and more. Whether designed for one individual, a companion memorial, or an entire family, upright monuments create a beautiful and lasting tribute.

Bench Monuments

Bench monuments offer a unique and inviting way to honor a loved one, memorialize a meaningful place, or commemorate a special event. They provide a space for reflection, remembrance, and quiet appreciation.

Often crafted from granite, stone, or concrete, bench monuments work beautifully in cemeteries, parks, gardens, and other memorial settings. They are especially meaningful for honoring community contributions, marking a loved one’s favorite place, or recognizing military service.

Specialty Monuments

Specialty monuments are designed for those who want something truly unique—something that goes beyond traditional shapes and styles. These memorials are fully customizable and can be crafted to reflect a personality, passion, profession, or meaningful life story.

From custom shapes and detailed etching to personalized artwork, symbols, and color accents, specialty monuments allow for a higher level of creativity and expression. Whether it’s incorporating a favorite hobby, a religious or cultural symbol, or a one-of-a-kind design, the possibilities are nearly endless.

At The DuCrest Monument Company, we work closely with each family to bring their vision to life—creating a lasting tribute that is as distinctive and meaningful as the individual it honors.

Granite Colors

Granite comes in many different colors and every monument is unique in itself as no two monuments are exactly the same color. Because of various factors most monuments are seen in various shades of gray, tan, red, or black. Granite can be a solid color or with a marble pattern. Darker granite tends to take more care and upkeep to keep them looking good as they can develop hard water spots on them – common with Southern Utah water. We do offer products to help clean monuments and keep them looking good year after year.
